“Fallen Death” (2018–2021)
“Fallen Death” is a body of work created between 2018 and 2021, themed around the concept of “fallen death.” I overlay myself onto fallen birds, camellias, and plants. Such fallen death feels close to my own existence.
When hammering metal, I overlay my own experiences of drawing close to death onto the sensation of that inorganic material gradually taking on warmth. Through such engagement between memory and material, I come to recognize my own life. This creation serves as a means for such self-understanding.
